Blackwing Pens & Writing
Blackwing 602 Pencils (12-Pack)
The cult-classic pencil of writers and animators: incense-cedar barrel, firm graphite core, and a replaceable rubber eraser in an aluminum ferrule. All-natural wood, no plastic barrel.
Good to know: The eraser is rubber, held in an aluminum clip, so the whole kit is plastic-free.
Why we picked it
The 602 is the pencil Chuck Jones drew Looney Tunes with and John Steinbeck wrote with: incense cedar, a firm-and-smooth graphite, and the flat replaceable eraser in its aluminum ferrule. The whole object is wood, graphite, metal and rubber. Twelve to a box, and the sharpening ritual is half of why people convert.
What it’s made of
Incense cedar, graphite, aluminum ferrule, rubber eraser. Chosen for what it’s made of, not what it’s wrapped in.
